Subscribing and Unsubscribing

Members may subscribe/unsubscribe themselves, but some members may not know how to do this. To subscribe or unsubscribe a member, go to E-mail Lists and choose the appropriate list where you will find boxes to subscribe/unsubscribe. Simply type the user's e-mail into the appropriate box. You will not see/get a message so type their e-mail address carefully! They will receive an e-mail message asking them to confirm the action which they can do by hitting 'reply' to the message, not by responding to you. Send them a message asking them to respond to you if they do not get the message from the listserv.

Changing Member Passwords

If users forget their password or want to change it, they should visit the listserv webpage at http://www.okemospres.org. Or you can do so for them and enter the e-mail into the password reminder box and submit. They will get an e-mail with a reminder.

Changing E-mail Addresses

If users want to change e-mail addresses, they may do so at the same listserv webpage. You may also enter the information for them on that page if they provide their 'old' e-mail and 'new' e-mail. They will get an e-mail at the 'old' address that will ask them to reply to confirm the change.

Viewing A List of Members

Member lists are available only to moderators and administrators. To get a current listing, substitute the appropriate information into the fields marked with <> brackets (do not include the brakets).

Send a message to: <listname>-request@okemospres.org, e.g. substitute announcements for <listname> for the announcements listserv, etc.

with the subject line: who <password>

The message should be blank.

The results list will be returned by e-mail if the moderator/administator <password> is substituted without brackets. The subscription list can be long and unsorted. Use a text matching search to find specific names in long lists. The list should be used only for helping individual members troubleshoot delivery, and the list should not be distributed or used for any other purpose. When the listserv messages are delivered, the e-mail addresses are not visible to members. Distributing the list comprimises member e-mail confidentiality.

Glitches: If members are not getting e-mails, and the e-mail has been confirmed, it probably means that their e-mail server is refusing e-mail from the listserv. We don't have any control over their e-mail server or any easy way to check this. The only way thing to do is have them set up a different e-mail address such as via gmail or yahoo and try that address. This probably is rare.
