Agape Worship Service, Nov. 19

On Sunday, November 19—the Sunday before Thanksgiving—it is our tradition to mark the holiday with an Agape Service. Agape is the Greek word for “love,” the word especially used to refer for Christ’s love toward his disciples. This is the self‐giving love that Jesus commanded his disciples to practice: “Love one another as I have loved you.” The early church often gathered on Sunday nights and brought a variety of foods to share in a feast during their worship service.

Our tradition is to observe this practice on the Sunday morning before Thanksgiving by bringing food to share—bread, grains, fruit, cheese, and the like—and share them together in Fellowship Hall in the last 15 minutes of our worship time. Please plan to bring some food to share on November 19, as we gather to give thanks to God for God’s bounty and blessings.
