The Giving Tree Committee, Michele Arbour, Jane Bobay, Ellen Camann, Laurie Chapin, Linda Cravotta, Becky Gillespie, Jane Paterson, Trudy Sturk, and Jayne Zulke are so filled with gratitude for the generosity of our church family and many others in making our refugee families feel welcome in our country and our community. Thank you also to St.V’s for organizing all of the
wish lists for us.
We raised almost $6300 and we were able to fill all of the wish lists plus many extras for 3 families which included 18 people ranging in age from infants to 60 years of age, We also gave each family $275 in Meijer gift cards for food. The generosity of our church and others was truly remarkable.
Meijer’s made a $500 donation and they also helped us shop, and especially helped us when it was time to checkout with hundreds of dollars in merchandise. Mandy was so helpful checking us out using our gift cards, Santa Bucks, our tax exempt number and she did it all with a wonderful, positive attitude, She and Ron, the general manager, could not have been more helpful to us. Give them a shout out if you see them in the store.
Each person on the committee shopped for 2 people and then we bagged all of the gifts and delivered them to St. V’s on Dec. 8th. We had help with the delivery from Gary Sturk, Jeff Arbour and Dave Chapin. The women at St. V’s said they can always depend on Okemos Presbyterian to be very generous.
