Join us for the 2018 GIL Fundraiser. For those of us who do not know or those of us who may not remember, GIL was established in 2010 with a mission of providing an alternative high school to Lansing area refugees who arrived in Michigan too old to complete their secondary education. That support has resulted in many refugees attaining a high school degree and that degree has improved their self-sufficiency and economic opportunities. Employers accept this degree, as does LCC, where many graduates have attended. One recent graduate is now in pre-med at MSU.
PCO was instrumental in the initial fundraising necessary for the creation of GIL, and PCO has continued to contribute financially to help with GIL’s mission. Among the other sources of income for GIL has been a yearly fundraiser. This year’s GIL Fundraiser is scheduled for Friday April 27, from 6pm to 9 pm in the Cadillac Room located at 1115 S Washington Ave, Lansing. There will be a silent auction, food, music and a cash bar. Tickets are $25 and are available at www.globalinstitutelansing, and may be purchased from Judi Harris or purchased at the event.
