With inner contemplation and outward joy, the Mission Committee leads all Okemos Presbyterians in awareness of our responsibilities to our brothers and sisters, advocacy of our Christian ethics, and action in the name of God who has blessed us with His calling to feed the hungry, heal the sick, clothe the naked, promote justice and bring the gospel to the whole world.

PCO makes donations to the Edgewood Village Scholar’s Program to prepare students for college.

PCO provides volunteers, meals, and donations to assist the agency in providing support to homeless families.

Financial donations assist welcoming new refugees into the Lansing area.

PCO supports several refugee families with gifts and essentials each Christmas season. Watch the announcements or the mission blog to learn about each year’s collection.

Church volunteers have provided six Saturday meals each year along with financial support.

Mission committee member Ellen Hoekstra serves on the board of CIS Michigan. The church supports the agency financially and by donation of needed items for students.

Members of the church participate in the annual walk and others sponsor those walkers. We are a leading church in terms of the number of walkers and the funds raised.

Church youth hold an annual fundraiser (“Souper Bowl”) in which the funds are donated to GLFB. We designate that funds be directed to food pantries at Okemos Community Church, Haslett Community Church, and the First Presbyterian Church in Lansing.

PCO has sent volunteers to various locations in Michigan to build, or restore, homes.

PCO supports this month-long event each September through sponsorship and an activity.
